This qualification is an excellent opportunity for you to progress your career. To be accepted on to the course you must attend an information session, which will consist of an English assessment and interview session and enrolment.

Learners must complete a work placement, as an employee, as part of their course. however, the placement must be within the London Borough of Croydon, as our assessors cannot carry out observations of work practice outside of Croydon.

To join either of these Advanced classes, you should have studied French for around 5 years and have probably obtained a good grade at GCSE. You should be able to cope reasonably well in discussions with a native speaker, employing a range of tenses.
You will continue to learn how to converse, understand, and write in French with more confidence. You will further improve your skills in presenting an argument using topical materials from French speaking countries and will consolidate your knowledge of French grammar.

During the course, you will learn how to describe yourself and others in greater detail, referring to your daily routine and leisure activities. You will be able to talk about where you live and where you are from, describing your home.

You will work towards the SEG Awards Entry 3 Award in READING & WRITING (The Skills and Education Group is the Awarding Body). This accreditation is based on work done in class or at home to build up a small portfolio there are no examinations. The SEG Awards registration fee has been included in the course fee.

You are probably quite confident using different tenses but need more practise to gain fluency. You should already be able to hold a short conversation with reasonable confidence with a native speaker.

Italian Level 1 conversation

This course will be held in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower although there will be the
option to participate online if you prefer.

To join this conversation class, you should have studied Italian for at least 12-18 months and be able to hold a simple meet and greet conversation with a native Italian speaker, ask questions about leisure activities, ask for and give simple directions and make general enquiries.

The course will give you the opportunity to gain confidence and improve your fluency when speaking. You will gain confidence using a variety of tenses which will improve your conversational skills and you will begin to use and understand more complex language.

To join this Italian Level 3 Upper Advanced class you should have studied Italian for at least 5/6 years or have lived in Italy and immersed yourself in Italian life and culture.

You will increase your mastery of the various tenses to express yourself more confidently both in written work and by taking part in discussions on various topics. Languages - Spanish Level 1 Improvers - term 3

These courses will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

This course assumes you have studied Spanish for about 12-18 months. You should already be able to get by in the language and cope with social situations and travel information.

This term, you will continue to learn how to converse, using both the past tense and future tenses and time will be spent practicing the use of both tenses to develop your confidence and fluency when speaking.

Spanish Level 2 (part 1) - Term 3

This course will take place in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

This course follows on from the Level 2 Part 1 Speaking & Listening course in the autumn and spring terms. To join this Intermediate level class, you should have studied Spanish for around 3/4 years and you should be able to cope reasonably well in conversations with a native speaker, employing the present, past and future tenses and the conditional tense to a limited extent.

During this course, you will continue to increase your ability to converse, understand, and write in Spanish with more confidence and will consolidate your knowledge of Spanish grammar.

To join any of these advanced classes, you should have studied Spanish for at least 5 years and be able to converse fairly well with a native speaker, using a range of different tenses.

The course will give you the opportunity to improve your fluency and to use and understand more complex language. You will increase your mastery of the various tenses to express yourself more confidently both in written work and by taking part in discussions on various topics. You will also enhance your reading skills and knowledge of the culture of various Spanish speaking countries and will explore literature and film.

Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education & Training

This course will be blended - delivered online and in the classroom.

PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT a Teaching Assistant course and is NOT suitable for you if you wish to support younger children in the classroom. This course is aimed only at those wishing to teach Adults in the Adult Education Sector.
The Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education is an introduction to teaching and it is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Community Learning and Skills Provider or Independent Learning Provider i.e with learners post 14 years of age. The course is also aimed at learners who wish to gain a taste of teaching in the Adult Education sector before deciding to pursue a career in teaching. (Ascentis is the Awarding Body)

Before you are able to enrol on this course, you will need to book and attend an assessment/formation session. You will need to create an online account to book your place on the assessment. Click on the 'Enrol' button to book your session for this course and follow the booking/registration instructions.

The assessment sessions for this course will be held at CALAT Croydon Clocktower centre on: :
Tuesday 26 March 2024 between 5:00 and 7:00pm.

Each session will last approximately 1-2 hours. The sessions are broken down into half-hour slots so you will need to select an appointment slot and arrive promptly for the start of the session.

Please bring along proof of any benefits you may be entitled to, as well as your Passport/ ID card or Home Office letter if applicable. Accredited courses may be free to those in receipt of certain benefits and who meet the eligibility criteria for UK residency.

This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

To be accepted on to the course you must attend an information session, which will consist of an English assessment and interview session and enrolment. These information sessions will be held at our CALAT centre at Strand House, Zion Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 8RG
