The skills developed by studying this qualification will develop an understanding of the role of the bookkeeper, including the need to produce timely and accurate work and follow ethical principles. Students will learn how to identify assets, liabilities, income, expenses, capital profit and loss, and the differences between trading for cash or trading on credit. The skills developed will give students a solid base from which to seek employment with greater confidence or enable them to progress to the next level of learning. Students will also learn the role that software can have in bookkeeping.

It is also suitable for those who are already employed in bookkeeping roles, those wishing to develop their skills and small business owners who want to do their own books.

AAT Award in Business Skills Level 1

This is a Level 1 introductory qualification in AAT.

You will learn basic accounting techniques and principles, an understanding of the business environment and how to prepare for the world of work.

It will give students an understanding of:

- How different organisations operate
- How to contribute effectively in the workplace
- How businesses process sales and purchases, and the documents and procedures associated with this.

City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care

This course is for carers or support workers who are currently working within the adult health and social care sector and want to gain this nationally recognised qualification.
You will develop and extend your practice and learn about the legislation that underpins the health and social care sector.

The course requires you to have a minimum of 3 months experience of working in the adult health and social care setting and you should be working approximately 10 hours per week.

This course is for you if you want to progress your career in Early Years (children aged 0 - 5 years) and have an existing Early Years qualification or substantial and recent experience of at least one years’ experience in an Early Years setting.

On successful completion of this course you may be able to apply to join the Childcare Level 3 course.

The afternoon course will be delivered in the classroom at Strand House, Thornton Heath.

This Beginners course is suitable for learners who have a small amount of Spanish knowledge, however, if you have previously learned another roman language to a reasonable level, you may be able to join and catch up.

These courses assume you have studied Spanish for at least about 6 months and can cope in first contact situations and communicate very simply in the language. You will learn how to describe yourself and others in greater detail, referring to your daily routine and leisure activities. You will learn to talk about where you live and where you are from and describe your home. These courses are not suitable for complete beginners.

Courses with the course code DEL will be delivered online. Courses with the course code CTL will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

To join this Upper Intermediate/Lower Advanced level class you should have studied Spanish for 4 or 5 years and you may have already obtained a GCSE pass. (This is not a requirement for this course though)

You should already be able to cope reasonably well in discussions with a native speaker, using the present, past and future tenses.

You will continue to increase your ability to converse, understand, and write in Spanish with more confidence. You will further improve your skills in presenting an argument using topical materials from Spanish speaking countries and will consolidate your knowledge of Spanish grammar.

You will also enhance your reading skills and knowledge of the culture of various Spanish speaking countries and will explore literature and film.
