The skills developed by studying this qualification will develop an understanding of the role of the bookkeeper, including the need to produce timely and accurate work and follow ethical principles. Students will learn how to identify assets, liabilities, income, expenses, capital profit and loss, and the differences between trading for cash or trading on credit. The skills developed will give students a solid base from which to seek employment with greater confidence or enable them to progress to the next level of learning. Students will also learn the role that software can have in bookkeeping.

It is also suitable for those who are already employed in bookkeeping roles, those wishing to develop their skills and small business owners who want to do their own books.

This is a Level 1 introductory qualification in AAT.

You will learn basic accounting techniques and principles, an understanding of the business environment and how to prepare for the world of work.

This is an introductory course for anyone interested in taking a bookkeeping course or working in the sector.

The course runs on a Wednesday morning to fit around the school run.

You will need to be over 19 to take part and in receipt of a low-wage or unemployed and receiving Universal Credit or similar.

The successful completion of the course will allow entry onto an AAT Level 1 course.

There is no entry requirements although a reasonable level of English & Maths is needed.

To join either of these Advanced classes, you should have studied French for around 5 years and have probably obtained a good grade at GCSE. You should be able to cope reasonably well in discussions with a native speaker, employing a range of tenses.
You will continue to learn how to converse, understand, and write in French with more confidence. You will further improve your skills in presenting an argument using topical materials from French speaking countries and will consolidate your knowledge of French grammar.

Course CTL130-25 will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

DEL128-25 will take place online via Zoom. IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT FOR THIS COURSE, you will need to come into the centre at Croydon Clocktower for one session nearing the end of the course so that you can complete the speaking and listening assessments which need to recorded in person. The Tutor will let you know in advance, the date and the time for these assessments.

This Improvers course assumes you have studied Spanish for about a year and can cope in first contact situations and communicate simply in the language.

During this course, you will develop your language skills to be able to use a limited range of simple words and sentences to form statements and questions in familiar situations, giving a short talk on a familiar topic using present, past (preterite) and future timeframes to a limited extent.

You will work towards the SEG Awards (Skills and Education Group is the Awarding Body) Level 1 Award in Speaking and Listening in Spanish. This involves compiling a small portfolio of assessments done in class which will then be internally and externally verified. All fees include the cost of this accreditation.

Spanish Level 1 - Part 2

This course will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

This course assumes you have studied Spanish for 2-3 years and can cope in an informal social situation including making references to the past. You will work towards the SEG Awards (Skills and Education group is the Awarding Body) Level 1 Award in Reading and Writing in Spanish. This involves compiling a small portfolio of assessments done in class which will then be internally and externally verified. All fees include the cost of this accreditation.

Spanish Level 2/3

This course will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

To join this Upper Intermediate/Lower Advanced level class you should have studied Spanish for 4 or 5 years and you may have already obtained a GCSE pass. (This is not a requirement for this course though)

You should already be able to cope reasonably well in discussions with a native speaker, using the present, past and future tenses.

You will continue to increase your ability to converse, understand, and write in Spanish with more confidence. You will further improve your skills in presenting an argument using topical materials from Spanish speaking countries and will consolidate your knowledge of Spanish grammar.

Spanish Level 3

To join any of these advanced classes, you should have studied Spanish for at least 5 years and be able to converse fairly well with a native speaker, using a range of different tenses.

The course will give you the opportunity to improve your fluency and to use and understand more complex language. You will increase your mastery of the various tenses to express yourself more confidently both in written work and by taking part in discussions on various topics. You will also enhance your reading skills and knowledge of the culture of various Spanish speaking countries and will explore literature and film.

Spanish Level 3 Conversation

Please note – This course will be delivered online via Zoom

To join this very Advanced conversation class you should have studied Spanish for at least 5-6 years and be able to converse well with a native Spanish speaker, using a range of tenses. You will develop your conversational skills and fluency, speaking about everyday contemporary and cultural issues, current affairs and general situations.

CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health (online course)

This course is for those who may have completed a relevant course in either Childcare or Health and Social Care or who may have relevant experience either volunteering or working with children or Young People and who want to gain further insight in order to work effectively with ages 5-18 years. This course is taught online.

To be accepted on to the course you must attend an information session, which will consist of an English assessment and interview session and enrolment.

Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education & Training

This course will be blended - delivered online and in the classroom.

PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT a Teaching Assistant course and is NOT suitable for you if you wish to support younger children in the classroom. This course is aimed only at those wishing to teach Adults in the Adult Education Sector.
The Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education is an introduction to teaching and it is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Community Learning and Skills Provider or Independent Learning Provider i.e with learners post 14 years of age. The course is also aimed at learners who wish to gain a taste of teaching in the Adult Education sector before deciding to pursue a career in teaching. (Ascentis is the Awarding Body)

Before you are able to enrol on this course, you will need to book and attend an assessment/formation session. You will need to create an online account to book your place on the assessment. Click on the 'Enrol' button to book your session for this course and follow the booking/registration instructions.

Each session will last approximately 1-2 hours. The sessions are broken down into half-hour slots so you will need to select an appointment slot and arrive promptly for the start of the session. The sessions will take place at Croydon Clocktower on
Wednesday 10 September 2025 at 17.30 to 18.00, 18.00 to 18.30 and 18.30 to 19.00.
Wednesday 17 September 2025 at 17.30 to 18.00 and 18.00 to 18.30.

Funding is available for these courses if you meet the eligibility criteria which means that you may not need to pay the course fee. This can be discussed with you at your interview as individual circumstances may differ.

You will need to have a relevant level 2 qualification in Teaching Assistant or Early Years.
You need to be employed within a school or college in the borough of Croydon.
