Italian for your holidays

Level:

Complete beginners.

Prior knowledge:

Little or no knowledge of Italian. However, students should have a good standard of spoken and written English and be able to work independently.

What will I learn?

Phrases that will be useful while on holiday in Italy.
Greet and introduce people: formal and informal.
Simple phrases and vocabulary that can be used in different communicative situations such as: asking the price, ordering a snack and a drink in a café, and buying goods in a shop or supermarket.

Subject contents/Topics to be covered:

Greetings
Some numbers
Ordering drinks and snacks in a café
Requesting information, asking for simple directions.
Shopping: asking for prices of different items.
Polite terms – please and thank you.

Teaching/learning methods:

Teacher presentation, followed by students practising together in small groups, pairs or as a whole class.
Exercises.
Watching and listening to audio/on-line presentations.

What examinations will I be able to take?

There will be no examinations during this course.

Continuous assessment by the Tutor

What extra work will I need to do outside the classroom?

Approximately one hour per week going over work done in class and learning vocabulary.

Equipment/information needed to participate in class.

This course will take place in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower

A pen, paper and a folder to put your work in. Toy may also wish to bring a small notebook so you can jot down a few notes during the lessons.

Details of your e-mail address and mobile telephone number are very important as we may need to call/e-mail you regarding course changes or work set if you are absent from class or if the Tutor cannot teach for any reason and you do not need to attend the class that particular day.

Progression opportunities:

Completion of this course will enable students to join a new Italian Beginners course in September 2025
