Summer Art: Painting for all - water-based media

Level:

The course is for everyone regardless of ability or experience and will be tailored to suit individual’s current levels.

Suitable for beginner artists & anyone that wishes to achieve a sense of wellbeing through creative activity & exploration

Course entry requirements:

No previous art experience is necessary, however learners must be able to work independently.

What will I learn on this course?

Learners will be given a tutor led demonstration about how to mix different tones & shades of a colour alongside a comprehensive overview of colour theory terminology in order to gain an understanding into the language used to describe the various aspects of art, therefore being able to utilise this to inform their creative practise.

Learners will then have the opportunity to practise colour mixing & experiment with its many techniques & outcomes & then use this knowledge & practical experience in a painting of their choice. Worksheets & all art & colour theory information will be available for all learners to take away with them for future reference in paper or electronic form.

Subjects/course content:

During this 4-hour course you will be exploring & learning about colour theory & putting this learning into experimental practise.

You will learn about art terminology in order to gain a better understanding about colour & colour mixing. In the first half of the course, you will be supported to experiment with colour & colour mixing in worksheet from, discovering how different shades & tones of a colour are created. From this you will have the opportunity in the second part of the course to put this knowledge & learning into practise in the form of a painting of your choice, using all the new colour combinations that you have learnt to mix!

This is a fun & relaxing course whereby the visual outcomes will speak positive volumes in regards to your learning about colour & colour mixing!!

Course location / delivery method:

The course will be held @ CALAT CENTRAL CROYDON .CLOCK TOWER.

You will be assessed by your tutor through CALAT forms which will be filled out every session (RARPA) to monitor progress & individual goal achievement. Your tutor will support you individually & as a group with an element of peer support in place too.

Assessments will take place via 1-1 & group discussion, questions and answers, homework, research, critique of completed work and feedback forms.

A3 paper pad (140gms upwards)
HB sketching pencil & eraser
Water Based paint media of choice
Masking tape
Range of paintbrushes
