Course Details

Who is the course for?

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

This course is suitable for you if you are interested in working in Care and have already completed a
Level 1 Care related qualification OR have been volunteering in a Care setting and can provide evidence of this.

We recognise that people volunteering in varied Care roles such has befriending, mentoring and counselling roles as well as domiciliary roles, may wish to apply for this course.

The course will give you the underpinning knowledge to progress to Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Care, once you have gained employment in Care, and will give you a head-start at interviews for Care roles.

What will I learn?

You will develop your knowledge of working in Care, safeguarding in a Care setting, health and safety, person centred Care, legislation and requirements related to working in Care. You will gain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of Care work in today’s varied working environments.

You will also be given excellent hints and tips on job applications and interview techniques. You will develop your existing IT skills to use E portfolios for assignment submission.

How will the course be taught?

The course is taught in our centre at Thornton Heath, with expert tuition and guidance from an experienced teacher, who can guide and support you as you work towards gaining your certificate. You will need to complete homework each week and will be given feedback to improve your assignments where needed.

The course starts this academic year. The first two classes are on Wed 10th July and Wed 17th July 2024
There will then be a break over the summer holiday and the classes will resume on Wed 18th September 2024

Related qualifications you can progress to

The course is planned to end on 14 May 2025. Once you have completed the course and gained employment in Care, you can progress to either Level 2 or Level 3 Care Diplomas depending on your job role. You may also be interested in our Care related qualifications such as Level 2 and Level 3 Understanding Mental Health.

We want you to succeed on your qualification so we will expect you to be committed to attending the classes each week and on time.
