Contemporary Jewellery Up-cycling - Intermediate
Who is this course for?
The course is for learners that have completed a beginners jewellery course with CALAT or have basic knowledge of how the jewellery tools work including threading, wire wrapping, findings and how to put a basic three piece set together .
What will I learn on this course?
You will learn to make statement jewellery from using unwanted materials such as wool, thread. Old unwanted clothes and recycle them into one of a kind unique pieces
You will introduce natural beads, shells and other natural materials to compliment your designs
Introduction to the tools and materials and how they work and where to sources them at the best prices. You will research though many different sources for inspiration to start and complete your designs
How to style and make your own 3 piece set of earrings, bracelet and necklace using ancient knotting and tying techniques taught to me from around the globe. Usage of needle and thread are life skills and will be taught on this course
You will learn that to make mistakes and that it is okay as this is part of your self growth .
Maths and English will be involved in this course as you will need these skills for measurements whilst using rulers and for counting beads . English will be used to communicate your likes and dislikes and your progress on the course .
You will have a sense of achievement that you have created stunning wearable jewellery from items that you would have normally thrown away.

Assessment
You will be assessed by your tutor through
Calats forms which will be filled out every session
1-2-1s, questions and answers, group brainstorming, homework, research and feedback forms.
Additional Information (equipment etc)
Please bring with you to your first lesson any unwanted beads, paper, tins, clothes materials or anything unwanted that you would like to turn into a piece of jewellery.
If you have your own tools please bring them along but not to worry if you haven't got them, as pliers and scissors will be provided .
Glues and glue guns will be provided.
Joining Instructions
Learners require a good standard of spoken and written English and should be able to work independently. Please enrol online or at our Calat office in Croydon.
