What Will I learn?

You will learn and research why we use jewellery through group discussions and research .
Introduction to tools and materials and how they work and where to source the tools at the best prices.
Fashion/ styling and how to make your own 3 piece set of earrings, bracelet and a simple
necklace to match either for yourself or for a gift through playing and exploring.
You will use your mobility skills and find new ways to manipulate the materials used.
Your focus will be tested as you use small beads and other items to complete your task.
You will make new friends as you share your creations through communicating your likes and dislikes and have lots of fun.
You will have a sense of achievement as you complete the course and hopefully look forward to your next level of jewellery making.


Subject Contents/Topics to be covered

The course is fun filled and will cover a wide range of techniques such as threading, beading, wire wrapping, closures, making patterns and design and health and safety.
You will develop life skills such as mental well being ,social skills and confidence building.

Teaching/Learning Methods

Participation, ice breakers, question & answers, group quiz.
Group discussion, observing and learning. Tutor and learners’ demonstration.
Correct and incorrect quiz. Explanations and feedback .

What Examinations Will I be Able to Take?

There will be no exams but will be using active learning tools like quiz and fun group activities.

Assessment Pattern

You will be assessed through your Calat worksheets which you will log your process.
Also assessed through short friendly quiz, group discussions one to ones and observation. You will participate in small homework task such as research and practice.

What Extra Work Do I Need to Do Outside the Classroom?

Practice your new skills at home with family and friends. Look around what you throw away and how you can use your creative skills to turn items into something beautiful and usable, you could turn your new skills into a hobby or business.

Equipment Materials to be brought to the First Meeting

Old unwanted beaded jewellery. Notebook and pen. Reading glasses if needed.
