Qualification level and title
ASCENTIS Award in Work Preparation Entry Level 3.
Target Group
Learners who are not ready for a vocational course and want to build the skills and confidence needed to apply for work or are considering returning to employment and wish to develop skills and knowledge.
Prior knowledge
It is suitable for those who wish to develop skills to prepare them for employment in a range of workplaces. No prior knowledge is needed.
What will I learn?
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand the requirements of the Workplace
- Understand the importance of positive attitudes and behaviours at work
- Understand legislation affecting the work of administrators
- Know the methods used to communicate different types of information in the workplace
- Use different Communication skills
- Know the structure of the Retail Sector
- Know different type of career opportunities in the retail sector
- Develop and demonstrate skills needed in the retail sector
- Know the structure and working patterns of the Business and Administration sector
- Know the different types of career opportunities available in Business and Administration
- Develop and demonstrate skills needed in Business and Administration
- Use e-mail software tools to send and compose messages and be able to respond to email problems.
Teaching / learning methods
Classroom demonstrations, individual worksheets and exercises, group projects and tutor presentations.
What extra work do I need to do outside the classroom?
Additional reading and classroom set assignments.
What examinations will I be able to take?
There will be no formal examination, the qualification will be achieved by Portfolio based evidence.
Progression opportunities
This qualification will enable learners to progress onto our Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications to further develop skills and knowledge in the specific area in which they may wish to pursue a career or use the skills gained to find employment.
