What will I learn?
By the end of the course depending on your level of experience you should be able to:
Have a good understanding of how to manipulate the Skirt Block block
Manipulate darts to create different Skirt shapes and styles
Understand the 2 different methods of pattern cutting
Recognise Pattern cutting tools and equipment
Understand how to enable a flat piece of paper to fit a 3 dimensional human figure
Subject Contents/Topics to be covered
The Skirt block
Dart manipulation
Using mini Skirt blocks to demonstrate how the Skirt works
Pattern cutting abbreviations
Creating different Skirt styles and designs
Teaching/Learning Methods
This course will be tutor led with step by step demonstration, followed by Learner repeating shown steps
Learners will also be shown samples and given informative handouts
What examinations will I be able to take?
There will be no examination
Assessment Pattern
Your progress and achievement will be recognised throughout the duration of the course.
You will learn to evaluate your understanding and recognise areas for improvement with help from your tutor.
At the end of the course, you and your tutor will discuss and record what you have achieved and what you still need to learn.

What extra work do I need to do outside the classroom?
Practice what you have learnt in class to ensure you are prepared for the next course.
Equipment to be brought to the First meeting
Pen and Paper for making notes during class.
Tape measure, Paper Scissors, 2H pencil, Eraser, Sharpener, 3 different colour fine markers/pens
An A4 file to keep samples and worksheets.
Other Notes
You will be asked to complete necessary paperwork in order that CALAT can claim government funding to subsidise the cost of the course.

To go onto higher level sewing course.

For Creative Arts course learners must be able to work independently and be able to use literacy and numeracy skills.
