Community Singing – Free Your Voice

None required

What will I Learn?

You will learn a range of songlets, rounds and chants to promote a sense of connection and wellbeing, relaxation and fun. You will find easy ways into releasing your voice and expanding your delight in singing with others. Songs are drawn from folk and global traditions, songs of the people, the seasons and the land. You will build confidence to try new approaches to using and enjoying your voice and will not be put on the spot in this supportive class.

Subject Contents/Topics to be covered

Physical and breath and voice warmups and care of the voice. Simple rounds, songs and chants from diverse traditions. Listening to each other and practising intervals. Hearing and holding harmonies and parts. Enjoying and appreciating your voice and its unique qualities.

Teaching/Learning Methods

This is practical, participatory and experiential.

Assessment Pattern

Self assessment weekly plus start and finish.

Optional extra explorations offered i.e links and optional self directed work.

Equipment Materials to be brought to the first meeting

Water, Pen and Paper.

Other Notes

This may interest those new to singing, as well as those seeking to try something different with singing. There will be no requirement for solo singing and the class is a supportive space for those who feel they can’t sing.
