None required. Learners will require a good understanding of spoken and written English.
What will I learn?
By the end of the course depending on your level of experience you should be able to:
Understand how Art developed in the 20th Century
Have discussed and investigated the techniques and life and times of the artists concerned
Have increased your knowledge and enjoyment of Art
Subject Contents/Topics to be Covered
The development of Modern Art
Art in Europe and around the world and its development from the early 20th Century
Interactive presentation Lecture based course using high Resolution slides.
Directed independent study as well as group based activities.
What Examinations will I be able to take?
Your progress and achievement will be recognised throughout the duration of the course.
You will learn to evaluate your understanding and recognise areas for improvement with help from your tutor.
At the end of the course you and your tutor will discuss and record what you have achieved and what you still need or want to learn.

What extra work do I need to do outside the classroom?
Equipment Materials to be brought to the first meeting
Pen and paper for making notes. Personal learning file.
Further CALAT Art History courses which take a chronological approach to the subject.
Learners will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements for trips.
You will be asked to complete necessary paperwork in order that CALAT can claim government funding to subsidise the cost of the course.
For Creative Arts learners must be able to work independently.
