Photography - NCFE Level 1 Award



Prior Knowledge

N/A - however you must own a DSLR or equivalent, have basic I.T. skills along with good literacy and numeracy.

What will I learn?

How to utilise semi auto modes, how to develop a good exposure, equipment understanding, focusing, ISO, shutter speeds and apertures. How to control your colour tone inc in camera black & white photographs. Learn how to process RAW files and develop a good compositional understanding.

You will also learn how to use continuous lighting, portraits and location photography.

Subject Contents/Topics to be covered

To develop a good understanding of your DSLR camera inc. the use of semi auto and manual modes, ISO, Aperture, Shutter speeds and how to combine them for a good exposure.

•Use the basic settings on your DSLR to take the desired shot using the manual and auto functions
•Develop your confidence when taking photographs; whatever the setting, location and lighting.
•Use the cameras creative controls using both the auto and manual settings
•Have an improved awareness of photography theory and different photographic styles
•Use techniques and creative settings such as composition, black and white, exposure, metering and flash
photography to improve your images
•Develop and present a portfolio of photographic images
•Use tools and equipment correctly and safely
•Understand and apply image production skills
•Produce and evaluate a range of photographic images

Technique inc. long exposures, portraits and continuous lighting.

You will also learn how to utilise Adobe Photoshop Elements inc. RAW processing and various photo manipulation techniques.
