Placement

You will need to gain a volunteer placement or employment in a school setting .
Due to the impact of COVID we recognise that not ill learners have been able to gain a placement in a school
You will to complete a placement and have a clear DBS to achieve a full level 2 qualification.
However you may start the course without a confirmation of a place in a school

If you are receiving qualifying benefits the tuition and registration fees are free

Joining instructions

All candidates are required to attend an online information and interview on the dates listed at the beginning of this course summary. You will also need to complete an online English and maths assessment after you have submitted your application unless you have GCSE English and maths (grades A-C / 9-5) or functional skills certificates.

Entry requirements

A minimum of Level 1 literacy and completed a level 1 course in the subject area or have experience in working in scools. If you wish to progress further you will be required to attend additional English / literacy classes to support your learning.
You will be asked to complete all paperwork necessary for CALAT to claim government funding which subsidises the cost of the course.

You will need to have a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure) certificate dated within the last 12 months by the London Borough of Croydon or undergo the checks required (included in the course fee) within a school setting.

Equipment Required

Learners are advised NOT to buy books until the course starts. Please bring the following with you to the classroom sessions:

Paper,pen and notebook
A4 lever arch folder and dividers and 1 ring binder folder
Access to a computer / printer and USB memory stick
