Qualification level and title

Ascentis Level 1 Further Develop Business Skills

Prior knowledge

It is suitable for those who wish to extend knowledge of administration and for those preparing to undertake the OCR in Administration at Level 2.

What will I learn?

By the end of the course you will be able to:

- Prepare routine business documents including agendas, reports, notices, and leaflets
- Understand how administrative teams operate
- Understand legislation affecting the work of administrators
- Understand health and safety issues that affect the work of administrators
- Undertake and complete routine tasks in an office environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of procedures and recognise the benefits of following
procedures for both the organisation and the individual
- Know how to hand mail effectively and securely

OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and Royal Society of Arts) Award in Administration (Business Professional) level 2.

Progression opportunities

This qualification has been designed to develop existing knowledge and understanding required to enable progression directly into adminsitrative job roles where you will be expected to work autonomously in carrying out administrative tasks or the level 3 Certificate in Administration.

To be considered for a place on this course you will need to attend an information & assessment session to be held at 10am in our Strand House centre on the following upcoming date(s):

If you achieved GCSE English and maths (grades A-C, 9-5) or functional skills in both subjects within the last 12 months, please bring the original certificates with you to the session otherwise you will be required to complete the on-line English and maths assessment.

If successful and you are offered a place, instructions will be given on how to enrol online or in person at any CALAT centres.

Entry requirements

A good standard of spoken and written English and the ability to work independently.

Candidates must have completed the level 1 OCR certificate in Administration (business professional), the equivalent or have previous experience in administration.

If you achieved GCSE English and maths (grades A-C, 9-5) or functional skills in both subjects within the last 12 months, please bring the original certificates with you to the session otherwise you will be required to complete the on-line English and maths assessment.

You will be asked to complete all paperwork necessary for CALAT to claim government funding which subsidises the cost of the course.

Equipment required

Paper, pen/pencil. Ring binder for notes. Students are advised NOT to buy books until recommended by tutor.
