Ascentis Entry 3 Certificate in Business Skills

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge or experience required. This course is suitable for those who are preparing for employment in job roles where they will be expected to work autonomously in carrying out administrative tasks and who wish to develop their ICT skills

What Will I Learn

Topics covered will include:-


Using the telephone to make and receive business calls.

Using the photocopier to reproduce documents.

Working on reception to greet visitors.

Filing (paper-based and computerised).

Word processing software.

Customer Service.

Classroom setting to include explanations to the whole group and individuals, individual worksheets and exercises group projects. Hands-on practice by learners.

- Ascentis Entry Level Certificate in Skills towards enabling progression.

- Ascentis Extended Award in English

This qualification has been designed to provide the basic knowledge and understanding required to enable progression directly into administrative job roles or the Further Develop Business Skills course at Calat.

Joining instructions

To be considered for a place on this course you will need to attend an information & assessment session to be held at 10am in our Strand House centre on the following upcoming date(s):

* Please note that due to our funding criteria we can only enrol eligible learners over the age of 19 at the start of the academic year who are permanent residents of a London Borough *

Entry requirements

A good standard of spoken and written English and the ability to work independently.

If you achieved GCSE English and maths (grades A-C, 9-5) or functional skills in both subjects within the last 12 months, please bring the original certificates with you to the session otherwise you will be required to complete the on-line English and maths assessment.

You will be asked to complete all paperwork necessary for CALAT to claim government funding which subsidises the cost of the course.

Equipment required

Paper, pen/pencil. Ring binder for notes. Students are advised NOT to buy books until recommended by the tutor.

*Please note this course is being delivered as Blended Learning - lessons taught online via zoom, some additional reading and set assignments, and possibly some practical tasks or examinations in our centre*
