The skills developed by studying this qualification will develop an understanding of the role of the bookkeeper, including the need to produce timely and accurate work and follow ethical principles. Students will learn how to identify assets, liabilities, income, expenses, capital profit and loss, and the differences between trading for cash or trading on credit. The skills developed will give students a solid base from which to seek employment with greater confidence or enable them to progress to the next level of learning. Students will also learn the role that software can have in bookkeeping.

It is also suitable for those who are already employed in bookkeeping roles, those wishing to develop their skills and small business owners who want to do their own books.

This is a Level 1 introductory qualification in AAT.

You will learn basic accounting techniques and principles, an understanding of the business environment and how to prepare for the world of work.

This is an introductory course for anyone interested in taking a bookkeeping course or working in the sector.

The course runs on a Wednesday morning to fit around the school run.

You will need to be over 19 to take part and in receipt of a low-wage or unemployed and receiving Universal Credit or similar.

The successful completion of the course will allow entry onto an AAT Level 1 course.

There is no entry requirements although a reasonable level of English & Maths is needed.

This knowledge based course provides learners with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Earal Years related topics, leading to either L3 Early Years Educator or L2 Diploma in Caring for Children and Young People or Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner.

Languages - An Introduction to Spanish

This course will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

This Introductory course is suitable for learners who have never learned the language before or who have a very limited knowledge. It will cover first contacts, and basic "getting to know you" phrases. You will also gain an insight into the delights of Spanish food and culture. Completion of this course will prepare you to move forward to an accredited Spanish beginners course next academic year.

This complete beginners course is suitable for learners who have never learned the language before or who have a very limited knowledge. You will work towards the SEG Awards (Skills and Education Group is the Awarding Body) Entry 3 Award in French. French: French Continuing Beginners Entry level - Part 2

Course CTL101-24 will be delivered in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower.

Course DEL159-24 will be delivered online via Zoom. Please make sure you enrol on the correct course.

This course assumes you have studied French for about 3 or 4 months and can cope in first contact situations and communicate very simply in the language.

During this course, you will start to develop your reading & writing skills and will learn to read and understand basic texts in French and write simple phrases and short sentences.

You will work towards the SEG Awards Level 3 Award in Reading and Writing in French (SEG Awards is the Awarding Body). This involves compiling a small portfolio of assessments done in class which will then be internally and externally verified. All fees include the cost of this accreditation.

This course assumes you have studied French for about 12-18 months. You should already be able to get by in the language and cope with social situations and travel information.

This course will take place online via ZOOM.

This course follows on from the Lower Intermediate Level 1 Reading & Writing course during the autumn & spring terms. If you did not follow this course, you should have at least 2-3 years’ of study and the ability to get by in the language, holding short, simple conversations, employing the present and simple past tenses.

During this course you will consolidate your knowledge of all grammar learned previously and will work towards increasing your ability to talk with more confidence about a variety of topics, employing the present, past and future tenses.

This course will be held in the classroom at Croydon Clocktower although there will be the
option to participate online if you prefer.

To join this Intermediate level (level 1/level 2)conversation class, you should have studied Italian for at least two years and be able to hold a simple conversation with a native Italian speaker, ask questions about a number of different topics (food, travel), use past tenses and the future tense.

Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education & Training

This course will be blended - delivered online and in the classroom.

PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT a Teaching Assistant course and is NOT suitable for you if you wish to support younger children in the classroom. This course is aimed only at those wishing to teach Adults in the Adult Education Sector.
The Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education is an introduction to teaching and it is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Community Learning and Skills Provider or Independent Learning Provider i.e with learners post 14 years of age. The course is also aimed at learners who wish to gain a taste of teaching in the Adult Education sector before deciding to pursue a career in teaching. (Ascentis is the Awarding Body)

Before you are able to enrol on this course, you will need to book and attend an assessment/formation session. You will need to create an online account to book your place on the assessment. Additional assessment sessions for this course will be held at CALAT Croydon Clocktower centre on:
Thursday 13th February 2025 between 5:00 and 7:00pm

L2 Teaching Assistant - Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

This course if for anyone working or volunteering in a support role in schools and colleges.

You are invited to attend an information and assessment session at our Thornton Heath centre. You must be 19 years of age or above as of 31.8.24 and live in the borough of Croydon to enrol on this course. The course may be free depending on your current employment status or income. When you attend, you will need to bring with you:

- original of official photo ID, e.g. passport or driving licence, or Home Office letter if applicable.
- Your last 3 months' wage slips (if you are working)
- If you are unemployed, proof of any benefits you are currently receiving.
- At the session you will complete a short English assessment and have a discussion with the course tutor.
